OUR STORY

Christ Community Church possesses a rich history and long tenured roots in the local community of Greeley, now celebrating its 120th year as a church. The current expression of Christ Community has been most fully shaped by Lead Pastor, Alan Kraft over the last 31 years. During this time the church has grown and expanded in many ways. Numerically they have grown and as a result built a new facility that opened in 2003. In 2009, about a mile away, CCC launched a downtown Greeley coffeeshop (Zoe’s Cafe) that has grown to be a 30,000 sq. ft. “coffeeshop and event center,” serving the Greeley/Evans community, officing some staff, and providing a location for many of our local outreach, NextGen, and church event needs. Christ Community’s passion is to follow Jesus by cultivating intimacy with Him, experiencing joy-filled relationships with each other, and to move toward a broken world.  Corporate worship has been absolutely vital in growing these values in this church family, and they continue to be the DNA that shapes their pioneering future.

Christ Community has worked hard to cultivate a healthy staff team that possesses a joy-filled, relational dynamic that has resulted in an impressive longevity among staff. The church is affiliated with the Evangelical Free denomination. (www.efca.org). As a church, they are staff directed, elder protected.  The staff is responsible for directing and overseeing the various areas of ministry. Elders provide a doctrinal protection and sounding board for vision.

A few key doctrinal/leadership bullet points that any candidate seriously considering the role will want to know:

ï Women have the ability to hold pastoral and elder positions at Christ Community (except for the role of senior pastor).

ï They hold to a traditional stance on marriage between one man and one woman.

ï They practice believer baptism through immersion.

ï They are a church that is rooted in the Word and open to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. They believe that God still speaks to people today, so they encourage their people to listen to the Lord. They believe that God still heals people today, so they encourage people to pray for healing.

Christ Community is completely debt free in ownership of their building as well as two parcels of land and Zoe’s coffeeshop and event center space in downtown Greeley. Finances are in a healthy spot, and the church is ready to discover and pioneer what the Lord has for them in this new season of ministry.

PURPOSE

All things with Christ...As a thriving family... For all people.

IDEALS

Dream Audaciously

We place our confidence in a God who “can do above and beyond what we imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20) We want to dream audaciously and boldly pursue who God is calling us to be, without fear of failure or risks.

Celebrate Often

We want to be a people characterized by joy, choosing to celebrate each other, to pause and reflect on God’s goodness, and to tell stories of His work in our lives.

Pioneer Creatively

We refuse to be a cookie cutter church but instead choose to pioneer creatively, take risks, adapt, pivot, and stay relevant in order to help people in our ever-changing culture find Jesus.

Serve Generously

Because we follow a Savior who gave His life away for us, we want to be known for what we give away. We choose to compassionately serve our community and to generously give of ourselves and resources to those in need.

Follow the Spirit

We choose to be led by the Spirit of God in our decisions, our ministries, and our daily lives. We long to cultivate a listening heart posture through stillness, prayer, Scripture, and worship.

Catalyze Movements

We long to be a church where people are empowered and sent, advancing the gospel through a multiplication that impacts our community as well as the world.

LEADERSHIP

The next Worship Arts Pastor will be fortunate to serve alongside Lead Pastor, Alan Kraft. Alan has served as Lead Pastor of Christ Community for 31 years. He is passionate about helping people not only know about Jesus but experience Him in intimate and personal ways.

Alan loves praying for people, teaching the Bible and creating space for people to respond to both the Word and the Holy Spirit. He also has a huge heart for the church to continue to impact our community and world. Alan has intentionally embraced a more collaborative leadership model, choosing to determine and pursue vision within a team of key staff leaders (the Directional Team), of which the Worship Arts Pastor will be a part.

Alan is very passionate about worship.  He loves to offer input into cultivating creative boundaries, then unleashing the Worship Arts Pastor to freely move forward in the vision God has given them. Alan values humility, as well as open and honest communication.

Alan and his wife Raylene have been married for 32 years. They have four children. Alan loves to play golf, read CJ Box novels, and hang out with Raylene. Alan has authored two books: More: When a Little Bit of the Spirit is not Enough, and Good News for Those Trying Harder

WORSHIP + MINISTRY CULTURE

This is an exciting time to partner with Christ Community Church! The next Worship Arts Pastor will join a collaborative staff who champion the area of worship through support, prayer, and resources. Isaiah, the Technical Director, is one of the most relational production staff you will find. As a multi-gifted leader, he oversees a team of production volunteers, is able to help music direct and play bass or electric from time to time when needed. The Worship Arts Pastor will give supervision and oversight to the Technical Director and his team.

Christ Community embraces a response culture in their worship services. They believe that the teaching of the Word moves people to worship, which is why their teaching happens early in the worship service, enabling the worship team to cultivate an atmosphere of response through songs, the Lord’s supper, prayer, moments of reflection, etc. The next right leader will have the opportunity to work alongside a Lead Pastor who does not view the worship music as a means to prepare people’s hearts for the message but rather sees it as an essential response time to engage with God after hearing the Word.

The next right Worship Arts Pastor will have a healthy appreciation for both a quality musical offering and also reverence and attentiveness to how the Spirit of God may move within a worship set.  There is freedom to repeat choruses, share a Scripture, a word, or a prayer-song as the Lord leads within a worship set.

Christ Community currently offers one Saturday night service and two Sunday morning services. They are currently reimagining and experimenting with various elements of the Saturday night service, to better serve those who attend. The next Worship Arts Pastor will have a voice into what this service becomes in the future, including how it is staffed with regards to the worship team. While this person does not need to be the one leading it, they will be responsible for ensuring the worship service is well planned and well executed.

At this time, the worship culture at Christ Community does not include special featured music moments that highlight the people on stage. Rather their emphasis is on the corporate worship offering of the gathered people.
