PRESENTS

Outreach Pastor

Sparks, Nevada

https://www.summitnv.org

Summit Christian Church began 20 years ago in March 1999 when 50 people banded together to launch this new church. We had a vision from God to begin a healthy church which genuinely loved people and communicated God's grace with clarity and passion. Within six months Summit grew to over 300 people. In early 2000, 36.5 acres were purchased for Summit's future use.

In the initial years of Summit's existence a culture of generosity was established that generated funding that allowed the church to build our first facility and move into it in July 2002. In 2003, our attendance first crested over 1,000. This necessitated the need for a building expansion. Through more sacrificial giving, the expansion was completed and first services were held in December 2004 which included additional children's space allowing for our Summit Ridge Christian School to open in January 2005.

In 2008, attendance crested over 2,000 for the first time and over 200 people were baptized in a year. In 2017, the church adopted a shared leadership model featuring two Lead Pastors to shepherd the church now and for the future!

Today, Summit Christian Church is an influential and lead ministry in the region. She has a long track record of health, growth, and Gospel impact. The church will be completing a large building within two years, opening even more opportunity to serve, bless, and create life change in thousands of others. This plan includes incredible outdoor spaces and a new 1500 person worship center. Weekend attendance today is 2,300 people on average, spread across four weekend gatherings. The annual budget for Summit is approximately $4 million.

VISION, MISSION & TEAM VALUES

VISION

Provide Real. Hope. For Modern Life.

MISSION

Cultivate fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ by loving God, loving people, serving others, and reaching others.

TEAM VALUES

Health
Personal and corporate health matter greatly. For us to advance the cause of Christ through loving community, it is vital that we are healthy - as a staff team and as a church. Therefore, we will fight for and maintain healthy rhythms of work, spiritual replenishment, and growth, rest and recreation. We love each other enough that we will have the guts to speak honestly with one other, seeking unity through healthy communication and embracing healthy conflict. We embrace not only a culture hard work but also of fun and laughter.

Focus
God has called us to make a difference in our community and around the world. Results matter. Therefore, we will focus on doing very well the few things that God has called us to do. We will accomplish more by doing less and staying the course with the vision set for us. Our vision sets the guardrails within which we operate; this allows both flexibility and creative freedom while maintaining intentionality. We will communicate our mission and vision repeatedly to maintain focus and carry us into the future. We will protect our mission, vision, and values by avoiding busyness and uncertainty.

Generosity
We will strive to be completely surrendered to God and follow his will for our lives. This whole-life generosity compels us to joyfully give our time, talents, and treasure to the Lord. We will selflessly serve knowing that a win in one ministry is a win for all. We will take the position that no task is too small and that the inclination of our entire team would be to follow the example of Jesus, the ultimate servant.

Achievable Excellence
We do the best we can with the resources, ingenuity, and opportunities that God provides. We are not afraid to adapt, try new things and think creatively. We realize this occasionally will result in well vetted ideas not succeeding and we are okay with that. We will strive to do our work in a way that honors God but will give our best efforts as an act of worship. We will endeavor to work collaboratively as a team and will celebrate all that we see God doing in our midst. We will not grumble regarding what we do not have, but we are thankful to God for what he has provided.

A word from Steve and Bryan

Lead Pastors

LEADERSHIP

Within the past two years Summit Christian Church has transitioned to a dual Lead Pastor structure - Steve Bond (left) and Bryan Smith. Steve is the founding pastor and Bryan rejoined the team after leaving for a time to pastor in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Steve planted Summit Christian Church in 1999. He is a gifted communicator, strategist, and humble servant. Prior, Steve lived in Chile for 10 years as a missionary. Steve enjoys the outdoors and being with family.

Bryan brings a zest for life and the Lord to everything he does! Before entering ministry, Bryan was a biology teacher. He previously has served as Summit's Student Pastor and then as the Outreach Pastor. Bryan enjoys spending time with his family and all things outdoors, especially dirt biking.

Summit Christian Church is an elder-guarded and staff-led church. They are a non-denominational church with Restoration Movement roots. Steve, Bryan, and two Executive Pastors (Chris Winslow and Brett Zunino) makeup the Lead Team. The staff are empowered to lead the church.

CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITY

Summit Christian Church has a very high value of and passion for outreach - it is a primary focus and element of the church. A next level leader is needed to mobilize people to take the church forward and make a deeper impact locally and around the world.

LEADERSHIP

Summit Christian Church is seeking out a strong visionary leader who has the ability to develop leaders, cast vision and develop strategies that will promote ministry and Kingdom growth. The existing outreach staff (3) and teams (2) are excited to head into the next chapter and eager to begin partnering with a new leader. The Outreach Pastor will also contribute as a member of the Core Team with seven others which includes the Lead Team.

MOBILIZE

Few people are regularly engaged in Summit organized outreach initiatives (150 out of 2000 plus regular attendees). A highly relational and organized person is needed to be the primary outreach catalyst to recruit, train, empower, and send out a much greater percentage of the Summit family into local and global serving opportunities.

PASTOR

The Outreach Pastor position carries a lot of influence, responsibility, and weight, both with people all over the globe and resources. A mature and experienced shepherd is needed to understand, sense, and support the ministry.

COMMUNICATE

Summit Christian Church seeks a person who is gifted in communications - verbal, digital, written, etc. This entails working with many people, ministry departments, community partners, and crafting powerful stories.

TRAVEL

The Outreach Pastor will need to lead and participate on trips both domestically and internationally about three to four times a year. Summit’s vision is that every person who calls Summit home participate on at least one international mission experience in their life.

LOCATION & STATISTICS

Summit Christian Church is located in Sparks, a border city of Reno, in Northern Nevada. Besides sharing the same state and legalized gambling, Sparks is completely different than Las Vegas in culture and climate. It is set in a high desert 4,400 feet above sea level between two huge famous lakes - Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake. Both are less than an hour away. The area obtains all four seasons and limitless activities year-round!

Sparks boasts a population of 101,000 yet feels much larger as Reno's population is 250,000. The slogan is true, "The Biggest Little City in the World." The Reno-Sparks area is a major hub for logistics, warehousing, and as of late, technology (i.e. Amazon, Patagonia, Tesla, Intuit, and more). The median home price in Sparks, NV is $344,000.

Reno-Sparks is ranked as the #2 unchurched city in America - it's an amazing place to live and share the gospel!
