HISTORY & CURRENT

Summit Park Church is about new beginnings – a new church and a fresh start for the future. Summit Park Church launched in the fall of 2013. The story began back in 2012 when Lead Pastors Scott and Jen Obremski began to feel God leading them to step away from the church they loved to start a church in Lee’s Summit. In the weeks and months that followed, God began to open doors, stir hearts, and gather the close-knit community that would become Summit Park.

The story of Summit Park Church is one of dreaming, belonging, creating, and loving. It is centered on Jesus and anchored in God’s word. It is a story that does not settle for the status quo, but looks to the future with hope. And it’s a story we want you to be a part of.

VISION & MISSION

VISION

Summit Park Church exists to help those who are far from God find life in Christ. Our vision is to build a body of believers that will grow in their walk with God and ultimately reach Kansas City with the Gospel. In the coming years we would like to launch additional campuses around the KC metro.

VALUES

Jesus Centered - Only Jesus can make the ultimate difference in people's lives. Psychology and philosophy are helpful…but only Jesus can transform a human heart.

We are Welcoming - No matter where you're from, or where you've been, we want everyone to feel at home here.

Relatable and Practical - We want our teaching to be something that is relatable to where you are in life and practical enough for you to apply.

Mission Minded - We want to serve the world around us through missions and outreach. We want people to move beyond themselves and fulfill the great commission.

With the Next Generation - We want to bring the next generation along in everything we do in ministry. They aren't the future of the church, they are the church.

Dependent in Prayer – The church was founded on prayer and the only way it works is through prayer. We want God to move and we believe He moves when his people pray!

MINISTRY APPROACH

Worship is our response to a loving God. But worship should infiltrate every part of our lives and isn't something that just happens on Sunday morning. We live out a life that is a pleasing aroma to the Lord and is therefore, worship. When we gather together on Sunday morning it is an overflow of what God is doing in our hearts and lives. This is the heartbeat of the worship ministry at Summit Park.

As a worship team, Summit Park's goal is to lead the congregation into deep and engaging worship experiences where people have a real encounter with Jesus. The goal is to lead the church to a place with God that leaves them better and changed.

LEADERSHIP

Our Lead Pastor, Scott Obremski, started his ministry journey at James River Church in the fall of 1996 while attending Central Bible College. After four years of serving as a volunteer in the youth ministry, Scott was brought on staff to start the James River Master’s Commission program. Nine years and hundreds of students later, Scott transitioned to overseeing the worship department at James River, as well as speaking regularly on Wednesday nights.

Scott and Jen met in the fall of 2007 and married a year later. They have three children: Cruz, Titus, and Eden. In 2012, God began preparing the Obremskis to plant a church in Lee’s Summit, MO. Scott and Jen have a passion for people. They are passionate about helping people find life in Jesus Christ, and they can’t wait to see what God has in store for Summit Park Church.

CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITY

SPIRIT LED, ENGAGING WORSHIP

It's important for this Worship Pastor to be a strong Worship Leader. This has a lot to do with musical excellence, talent, and creativity. But also important is the ability to pastor and help people engage. This goes beyond the musical into the skill of uniting a room in corporate worship.

Summit Park is looking to broaden its creative horizon and create an even more engaging atmosphere of worship. This new worship leader will help to increase the musical creativity and join forces with a high capacity team of worship leaders.

DEVELOPING LEADERS

The worship ministry at Summit Park is volunteer driven. The primary role of anyone on staff is to recruit and disciple volunteers to do ministry. Success over the long-term will be more about the leaders you've developed, rather than how many services you've led. This role, in particular, needs a leader who will develop others, give them a path for growth, and expand the team beyond themselves.

Summit Park Church ALSO has a vision to plant other campuses in the area. This Worship Pastor will play a significant role in helping to raise up and develop new worship leaders and musicians for those future locations.

PASTORAL LEADERSHIP

A Worship Pastor at Summit Park Church needs to love people. Volunteers aren't simply a means to an end or a position in Planning Center. It's all about pastoring the team to love Jesus, take next steps, and create something special together.

The team at SPC is currently made up of 50+ volunteers who serve on the worship team. The musicians are passionate, skilled, and the culture is healthy. But with new growth comes new challenges. As the church continues to expand into new communities, the need for worship leaders increases.

Loving people, pastoring people, and leading people to operate in their gifting is essential. Tight execution and productivity is valued, but Summit Park needs a spiritual leader that embodies the vision and pastors their team.

LOCATION & DEMOGRAPHICS

Summit Park Church is located in Lee's Summit, just outside of Kansas City, Missouri. Kansas City sits on Missouri's western edge, straddling the border with Kansas. It's known for its barbecue, jazz heritage and fountains. Downtown, the American Jazz Museum shares a building with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, with giant shuttlecocks out front, houses nearly 40,000 works of art, from ancient to contemporary collections.

Kansas City is also a big sports town, home to the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, as well as professional soccer teams, Sporting Kansas City and FC Kansas City.

Lee's Summit is a city located within the counties of Jackson and Cass. As of the 2020 census its population was 101,108, making it the sixth-largest city in both the state and in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
