HISTORY & CURRENT

Rolling Hills Community Church started over 40 years ago with a few young families and a dream. From the beginning, God had a plan for our faith family and what Rolling Hills would become. We continue to trust His vision for our church and hope you will join us on the journey!

Who We are

Rolling Hills is a group of diverse people united in our commitment to reaching the world one person at a time, as we learn to think, love, and live like Jesus, and reproduce that in the lives of others.

We seek to be in real community together, where it’s safe to be known and walk alongside each other as we pursue Jesus. When we are in genuine relationships with others who are being guided by Jesus, as revealed in the Bible, God transforms us. He takes what is broken in us and makes it whole. As we experience our own loving relationship with God, our heart for the needs of others cannot remain indifferent. As a faith family, we are motivated to move toward the people and needs in our community with love and compassion.

We believe God is at work in us, as well as through us, to positively impact our community, region, and world.

GOD’S STORY THROUGH ROLLING HILLS

Over 40 years ago a few young families felt called by God to start a church. God gave this group of people a vision that Rolling Hills Community Church would be a place where men, women and children would find salvation in Jesus Christ and be led to grow in Christian maturity. A place where they could find the life mission for which God had created them. Here are some highlights over the past four decades of how God’s story has developed through Rolling Hills.

MISSION & BELIEFS

OUR MISSION

The mission of Rolling Hills Community Church is to reach the world one person at a time, as we learn to think, love, and live like Jesus, and reproduce that in the lives of others.

OUR BELIEFS

IN THE ESSENTIALS…UNITY

IN THE NON-ESSENTIALS…LIBERTY

IN EVERYTHING…LOVE

We believe these truths are clearly taught and speak to God’s redemptive plan as presented in the Bible. These are truths essential for understanding how one can become a part of His faith family and then join in unity with God’s mission for the church.

LEADERSHIP

BILL TOWNE - Senior Pastor

It’s hard to believe, but I’ve been on staff at Rolling Hills for 39 years. I was hired as a part time Student Ministries Pastor while attending Western Seminary in Portland. I served our students and their families for 10 years before stepping into the newly created Executive Pastor position. In this position I oversaw the Pastors and ministries of Rolling Hills and did this for the next 15+ years. Since 2009, I’ve served as the Lead Pastor. My wife Kathy, my three daughters and their husbands, and now seven grandchildren all call Rolling Hills their faith family. I feel very blessed to have served this community and church for most of my adult life. Kathy and I look forward to many more years of seeing God work in us and His faith family at Rolling Hills as we look to the next season of ministry after stepping away from the Lead Pastor role.

Marc Huchette - Executive Pastor

I’ve been a member of Rolling Hills since 2010 and I have served on staff as the Executive Pastor since 2014. My wife Donna and my two children Hannah and Marchal grew up in the church through the kids and student ministries. I served 12 years active duty in the Air force and 12 additional years working at the federal and state levels managing a federal agency and working with veterans in Oregon. I’ve loved serving alongside our staff as Executive Pastor and currently oversee all staff and ministries as well as the finances and operations of the church. I love how God is using our church and campus to serve the community by allowing us to leverage our resources to serve those in need.

JEN GULBRANDSON - CAMPUS PASTOR: LEAD MINISTRIES

I have been on staff at Rolling Hills since 1997. For 23 years I worked in Student Ministries, mainly in the Middle School department. Then in 2021, I stepped into a new ministry opportunity as the Campus Pastor that oversees Students, Kids, Young Adults, Women’s, Men’s, and Community Group ministries. It is an honor for me to support and come alongside pastors in their ministry efforts. I am passionate about studying God’s Word and helping people discover their giftings. My husband, Darren, has been attending Rolling Hills since he was 9 years old. Darren and I have a high school daughter and a middle school son.

STUDENT MINISTRY APPROACH

RH Students is a place where youth can be fully known, worship God together, learn from scripture and have fun with their peers! Their passion is to see every student build a meaningful relationship with Jesus, grow to become more like him, and live that out in tangible ways. Their passionate volunteers and leaders are excited to mentor students, meeting them wherever they are on their journey.

SUNDAY MORNINGS - 11am

During the 11 o’clock service students meet for their own service. The middle school students use the Grow curriculum for their speaking outlines. The high school group streams in the adult service. Both provide a time for students to hangout and connect wth friends. Students are also encouraged to service on Sundays.

SUNDAY EVENINGS SMALL GROUPS 6:00-8:30PM -

Rollinghills is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and their families. They feel that small groups is one of the best ways to do that. Middle school and high school meet separately. Therefore, recruiting, preparing and inspiring small group leaders for their student ministry will be an integral goal as the minsitry grows. They have dedicated volunteers already – now more than ever it's time to expand that reach by adding additional adult leaders who can provide passion and help students grow in their faith.

DESIGNATED SPACE

Student ministries have great spaces for students. With two dedicated rooms - one for middle schoolers, and another for high schoolers- youth can come together in an exciting atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to get involved. Both spaces feature lights, sound systems, video displays as well as comfortable furniture so every student feels at home! All these elements combine to create an environment that allows students from different backgrounds to find community and hear the Gospel.

EVENTS

Each year, Rolling Hills strives to give students incredible experiences grow in community and invite their friends! One of our most popular events each year is Summer Camp. Both middle school and high school run their own camps with hundreds in attendance. And after taking some time off recently, there's a great enthusiasm from students, parents, and leaders around bringing back mission trips.

YOUTH PASTOR NETWORK

There is a great network of Student Pastors in the area that gather monthly for prayer, food, and encouragement. The new NextGen Pastor will be encouraged to join this group and continue the connections that have been built over many years.

CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITY

YOUNG ADULTS

As the leader of the Young Adult ministry, the NextGen Pastor will develop and oversee the engagement pipeline for Young Adults. Making sure that they feel connected, cared for, and part of the Rolling Hills community. As a church, one of the top three goals is to see that Young Adults are infused into the life blood of every department of the church. This new leader will help staff know the needs of Young Adults and spend time meeting with them during services as well as during the week. It will be vital that this new leader takes a relational approach.

GOSPEL-CENTERED

At RH Students, the focus is always on understanding and embracing the Gospel. Their teaching style encourages students to dive into scripture reading and apply the Gospel to their lives. They emphasize small group discussions for further exploration with adult leaders. RH is seeking a new leader who is passionate about the scriptures and helping the student ministry staff connect with students through knowledge of the Word and its life-changing application.

REFRESH

At Rolling Hills, student ministries has long been a beacon of success. COVID and staff turnover has put the ministry in a position of needing new energy and excitement. Now it's time to hit the refresh button and get creative! With new staff in place, there’s an opportunity to bring innovative programing that meets today’s youth where they are. The staff, leaders, and students are now poised to take things to the next level.

COLLABORATIVE

RH is looking for a NextGen Pastor to lead the middle school and high school staffs! Angie McKay works closely with the middle-schoolers, while Jess Littleton serves the high school students. This new leader will shape these ministries around the mission, vision, and values of Rolling Hills - all in an engaging collaborative environment.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Rolling Hills is investing in their staff, recognizing that physical, emotional and spiritual well-being are inseparable facets of a successful organization. Led by Rhonda Began’s efforts, a truly unique three-year program has been launched to strengthen and empower staff and volunteers-- featuring monthly development meetings for personal growth, one-on-one coaching sessions for implementation, and an emphasis on taking care of their souls.
