OUR STORY

Clint and Michaell Dupin moved to San Ramon in 2017 to start Eastown Church, with a prayer to create a church that the East Bay community needed and not a church they were used to leading. A launch team was started with the Dupin family and the one other family they knew, and then grew to 45-50 people made up of neighbors, unchurched, de-churched, and a few others from local churches. This team spent the first year listening, learning, and partnering with events that were already happening in the community. This was where the Love Local Initiative was birthed along with the mission to inspire and equip anyone to love like Jesus where they live, work and play. Eastown believes that our greatest impact happens right where we live. Then, one year later, Eastown kicked off Sunday services in January 2018. We believe as we live out our mission together, by God’s grace, we will see love, healing, and justice spread throughout our neighborhoods and cities. While our local context is the East Bay, (the #1 un-churched and de-churched area in our nation) part of our church body is now located in other places on account of our online service option. We invite anyone to “love local” in the specific communities God has intentionally placed them.

MISSION

We exist to inspire and equip people to love like Jesus where they live, work, and play.

CORE VALUES

Loved no matter what

  • Demonstrated by our desire to create a safe place for anyone to feel loved, experience authenticity, and find belonging. Because we believe that everyone is made in the image of God and loved by Him, we will strive to create a culture that exudes God’s love, provides an opportunity for genuine relationships, and invites everyone to pursue Jesus at their own pace.

Relationships that strengthen

  • Demonstrated by the intentional opportunities we provide for anyone to experience community combined with an invitation to grow in their faith journey no matter where they are at. We believe that through community, individuals can find encouragement, direction and accountability as they discover all God has in store for them.

Freedom in Jesus

  • Demonstrated by the life change that takes place as we follow Jesus and experience healing and growth from addictions, broken relationships, and chains that have held us back from stepping into the life that God has for each person. We will provide a culture that listens to the stories of others, provides opportunities and resources that point to freedom in Jesus, and celebrates life change in the lives of others.

Impact where we live

  • Demonstrated by acknowledging the location in which we are strategically placed and identifying opportunities to pursue relationships, bring joy, and serve others in those circles. We will strive to lead by example in our own communities and provide resources for anyone to have impact in their neighborhoods and communities.

Justice in action

  • Demonstrated by our willingness to acknowledge and lament where our complacency and silence has contributed to systemic racism in our country and the church. We will discover ways to listen, learn, and give to people of color in our local and greater communities as we go on the journey of racial reconciliation. We will identify and provide tangible ways to advocate for and serve the oppressed in the Bay Area.

LEADERSHIP

Michaell and Clint met 23 years ago in Rocklin, CA. After spending 16 years of that being a part of two incredible churches in Michigan, it was a privilege to move back to Northern California in 2017 - one of the most innovative and influential areas of the world - to start Eastown Church. Before starting Eastown Church, Clint and Michaell had the opportunity to launch the 4th campus of their sending church, Kensington Church. Kensington is located in Metro Detroit and reached over 13,000 people on a weekly basis.

Clint and Michaell have always had a desire to reach and connect with those that are marginalized, distant from God, and hurt by the church. This led them back to Northern California to launch and co-lead a church start-up in the SF Bay area, the most unchurched and de-churched population in the U.S. They are passionate about the local church being the vehicle to usher in the gospel through neighborhoods, workplaces, and social spaces. Their belief that the church should change the landscape in which it exists by bringing love, grace, and justice is core to who they are.

Clint and Michaell have had many amazing opportunities but they are most passionate about reaching and loving people right where they are. In all of this, they want to have fun sharing the life-changing message of Jesus.

In addition to all of this, they love experiencing this life that God has called them to with their four children, Savannah, Claire, Henry and Charlie.

Opportunities Abound

Eastown is set up for incredible growth potential and is experiencing numerical growth as well as an expanding representation of the diversity in the area. Eastown is looking to hire an Executive Pastor to help continue moving the vision and mission of Eastown forward. The primary goals of this position are to ensure:

  • Continue moving the vision and mission of Eastown forward.
  • Eastown operations run efficiently and effectively.
  • Eastown Leads and volunteer leads feel supported and resourced.
  • Systems and processes are improved and/or created where needed.

Eastown is looking for someone who strives for excellence, prioritizes clear communication, is adaptable, has a teachable spirit, exercises spiritual authority, and will commit to the vision and mission of Eastown.

In the community, Eastown is most known for the Love Local initiative, where we believe we can change the landscape of the communities where we live, one neighborhood at a time. This is a major focus for Eastown, having become its own entity apart from the church so that the impact can grow beyond just those who attend Eastown.

Joining the team at Eastown means you would be a part of a staff that loves each other, loves the people of this area, is passionate about people knowing Jesus and wants to see people meet Jesus and then create “homes” all over East Bay where they are the light in their area.

Our philosophy is always People over Programs, and one way we can value the people God is bringing is through:

  • Attention to details - because the vision and moving forward depends on it
  • Having the heart of a Pastor - seeing others, honoring their story, pointing them to Jesus
  • A shared vision
  • Strengthened systems and structures to support what happens within the walls of Eastown and in our community
  • Investment in volunteer leaders
