TEACHING / CAMPUS
PASTOR

CROSSPOINT CHURCH
Niceville, FL

Crosspoint has partnered with Slingshot Group to build their remarkable team. They are looking for a high-capacity leader to journey with them as the new Teaching / Campus Pastor of the Niceville campus.

Crosspoint, a theologically orthodox United Methodist Church, is making a faithful impact on the people of Niceville, Florida and the Florida Panhandle. They possess a solid relational and relevant biblical footing, quality campuses planted in surrounding communities, and a multi-talented, passionate team of leaders.

This opportunity is a great chance for a gifted communicator and strong relational leader to join a healthy team and lead alongside the new Lead Pastor, Campus Pastor Team and Campus Executive Team. With a high value on relevant biblical teaching, quality traditional and modern worship experiences, missions, discipleship, and NextGen ministries, Crosspoint is seeing God refine and expand the vision!

The pre-COVID average global weekly attendance was around 4000 at 5 campuses, with 2300 at the Niceville campus. They are steadily regaining ground, seeing a weekly average of 1400 people at the Niceville Campus. With eyes focused on uncharted territory, Crosspoint is embarking on a journey to make a greater impact through making disciple-makers and engaging the next generation.

MISSION & VISION

“Connecting People to Christ”

Crosspoint's purpose and passion is "Connecting people to Christ," with a mission "to build a community where people can come as they are, meet Christ, grow in their faith and find a place to serve”. Teaching is biblical, relational, and relevant. There is an obvious desire to settle for nothing less than authentic, theologically sound, and Christ-honoring experiences while making a distinctive missional impact on the community.

THEOLOGY

Rooted in and aligned with Wesleyan, United Methodist theology, Crosspoint is biblically conservative and culturally relevant.

DISTINCTIVES

  • Arminian - Crosspoint holds an Arminian theology. If you hold Reformed or Calvinist theological beliefs this would not be a fit for you.
  • Egalitarian - Crosspoint celebrates women in all levels of the church leadership, including Pastor and Elder. They believe that the teachings and attitudes of Jesus and the New Testament abolished gender-specific roles as well as roles related to class and race.
  • Infant Baptism - Crosspoint believes that the baptism of believers signifies repentance and forgiveness of sin, new birth, and the entry into Christian discipleship. Young children, with or without baptism, are under the atonement of Christ and as heirs of the Kingdom of God are acceptable subjects for Christian baptism. For them baptism is a symbol of God taking the initiative toward them. Their baptism should be followed by Christian nurture within the church. Hopefully, they will be led at a later time to receive the gift of salvation through profession of faith in Christ.

LEADERSHIP & CULTURE

Crosspoint has an amazing staff team and hundreds of faithful volunteers. The leadership is intentional and empowering, working to raise up the next generation of leaders. They have consistently accomplished their goal to promote from within, filling most of their open roles with current team members and high-capacity volunteers. Just as they are a multi-generational church, they are a multi-generational staff team. It's really cool to witness the way they champion their young staff while honoring those who have paved the way.

While they are making great strides to be innovative and technologically current, they aren't making changes just for change-sake. The work environment is causal, but excellent - fast-paced, but with a healthy balance.

They lead through processes, mostly developed from the bottom up, approved by the Directional Leadership Team (DLT), and then codified in the Playbook. Vision and Mission are from the DLT and Lead Pastor. Values are currently being developed and came from input from the staff at large. They work to empower and delegate everything they can, while also working as hard as they can at what only they can do.

GLOBAL DIRECTIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAM

  • JEREMY SMITH - (12 years on staff) Lead Pastor - Jeremy is a visionary and strategic leader who will allow the Campus Pastors to make decisions for themselves by working through the correct decision-making processes. He loves systems, but also will change based on intuition. He plans on staying involved with the Campus Pastors, though not directly supervising them, and will lead all of the preaching processes.
  • GREG MCKINNON - (17 years on staff) Executive Pastor - Greg is a great coach and supporter. He will hold you accountable and also encourage you. Greg is one of the most effective ministers of the gospel in a church setting. His experience and instincts from years of ministry lead to great decisions and direction for the staff and church. He is a healthy leader who deals with conflict in healthy and straightforward ways, and is always available to talk with his direct reports. Greg has Crosspoint's DNA through and through.
  • Blane Pearson - Minister of Administration
  • John Macon - Outreach Minister
  • Dan Knuff - Executive Pastor - Niceville Campus and Ministries
  • Starla Christakos - Lay Member and Personnel Team Leader

STRENGTHS & OPPORTUNITIES

STRENGTHS

  • ONE | MISSIONS - Crosspoint Missions is an important part of their vision to connect people to Christ, providing the means to expand their reach in both the neighborhoods served by local campuses and across the globe. From local outreach programs to long-term mission opportunities all over the world, they are impacting lives one relationship at a time. Crosspoint is known in the community for their generosity and service through the decades.
  • TWO | SUNDAY GATHERINGS - Overflowing with authentic southern hospitality, A Sunday service at Crosspoint is a welcoming experience geared toward helping people have a transformative encounter with God. Whether you're stepping into the traditional service or the contemporary venue, you'll be greeted by the hosts, offered coffee and pastries, and welcomed into the service. Worship is high-quality and production is excellent and simple, not meant to distract from the moment, but enhance the experience. Sermons are relevant and humorous, while bringing clear application to the listener.
  • THREE | NEXTGEN - Crosspoint is committed to helping today’s young people navigate an increasingly complex world and find their identity in Christ. They are investing in that ministry in a big way! Families choose Crosspoint BECAUSE of their excellent ministries to kids and students.

OPPORTUNITIES

  • ONE | LEADERSHIP TRANSITION - Though they are working towards a healthy and gradual leadership transition, it will not be without its challenges. People are excited about Jeremy's leadership and are very supportive, but Rurel has been the beloved Lead Pastor for a long time and many will struggle to embrace the change.
  • TWO | RENEWED ENERGY FOR MINISTRY - Niceville Campus is probably the slowest to recover in attendance from the pandemic. The staff are highly skilled, trained and motivated people, but are somewhat tired coming out of this season.
  • THREE | SIMPLIFYING - The Niceville Campus is constantly striving to become simpler in terms of programs while also maintaining the same reach as before. There are some difficulties in leading a 108 year old campus; however, no campus has higher level lay leaders and more overall potential if focused and motivated. Niceville Campus supports the rest of the church in lay and central leadership.
  • FOUR | DISCIPLESHIP - Making Disciples and Sending Missionaries - They are shifting to a more disciple-making philosophy, but that means making a big culture shift in the church as a whole, and specifically at the Niceville Campus. However, very few churches in the US reach the overall % of the community population as the Niceville Campus. The amount of people who are already associated with the Niceville Campus is incredible and is fertile ground for Kingdom purposes!
