CHALLENGE and OPPORTUNITY
INTENTIONAL RELATIONAL LEADERSHIP
There are many worthwhile goals for student ministries, but the Great Commandments and the Great Commission should be at the core. The Student Pastor will focus on helping students and leaders excel at creating disciples who wholeheartedly love God, care for their neighbors as themselves, and inspire others to do the same.
EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
With multiple gatherings each week, Nexus needs a strong team builder who can recruit and develop dedicated volunteers across all areas of Nexus Youth. Serving is a significant value at Nexus, and people are encouraged to find their place to serve. The Youth Pastor should be able to cast a compelling vision and lead the volunteer team at a high level. This new leader will develop leadership pipelines that create opportunities for student leaders, and adult leaders.
PROACTIVE, FOCUSED, RESILIENT
The staff at Calvary Nexus need to adopt a "roll up your sleeves and make it happen" mindset. While the family ministries team collaborates to reach families, each ministry leader is responsible for advancing their specific assignment. This new leader should excel at casting vision, prioritizing clear communication with families, leaders, and students, and demonstrating resilience when obstacles or setbacks arise.
GOSPEL-CENTERED
Calvary Chapel is known for its emphasis on expositional teaching going through the Bible verse by verse. The Youth Pastor will speak the message of the Bible "clearly, plainly, accurately, relevantly, without addition, subtraction or falsification.” This new leader should be a student of the Word and passionate about helping those they lead study the Word as well. The Sunday morning teachings follow along the adult services. The midweek services often look at books from opposite testament on Sunday morning.
