HISTORY & CURRENT STATUS

Mosaic Church held its first gathering on Easter, 2003. Since then, they've grown to roughly 1300 adults and are well known in the community for their incredible worship services, their work in adoption and foster care, and their reputation as a welcoming and Bible-teaching church.

After meeting in various locations with several campuses for the first 14 years, they remodeled a huge retail space, transforming it into an amazing ministry facility. Mosaic has also planted a Disney World campus aimed specifically at the needs of the community surrounding Walt Disney World, Orlando.

Mosaic was planted with the idea that it would be a place where anyone can have an authentic encounter with God. They aspire to love God, love people, and serve the world as they demonstrate their passion for God and His passion for people.  With an unwavering focus on making an impact locally and around the globe, Mosaic is well known in the community for being a church that cares. They are extremely involved in adoption, foster care, eliminating human trafficking, and have an exceptional special needs ministry. Mosaic is a church that truly embodies what it means to care for the least of these.

Mosaic is currently healthier and stronger than ever, and their Kids Ministry is quickly gaining momentum. Two FT Coordinators have recently been hired, and they are exceptionally gifted and high capacity. Mosaic is looking for that next level leader who can cast vision and lead this new team to even greater heights of Kids Ministry.

Our Story

MISSION

"Love GOD, love PEOPLE. and SERVE the world.”

Through the wonder of Christ, we are like a mosaic. A broken, shattered people redeemed and brought together to display God's beauty to one another and the world. Mosaic desires to be a place where anyone can have an authentic encounter with God. We aspire to love God, love people, and serve the world as we demonstrate our passion for God and His passion for people.

Theologically, we are gospel-centered, generally reformed, Baptistic, complementarian, and continuationist. For a more thorough look at our doctrine, click HERE.

Relationally, we are winsome, kind, welcoming and generous, and we love to make the experience with us a representation of the beauty of the gospel.

Missionally, we believe that we are on planet earth to bring glory to God, in the midst of any and every circumstance as we invade the darkness with the kingdom of light. We love adoption and foster care, and supporting families involved in caring for children from hard places. We are involved in works of justice and mercy, and church planting endeavors both locally and globally.

WE’RE COMMITTED TO THESE CORE VALUES

How we desire to relate with one another and with the body of Mosaic Church:

We unite at the feet of Jesus.

We acknowledge our need for the gospel and are committed to abiding with Jesus, as individual followers, as a church staff, and as a local congregation. We engage in the life of this church together; participating in worship, prayer, communion, confession, repentance, discipleship, spiritual formation, community and mission. We don’t just do church for others, we stand shoulder to shoulder as a part of the body of Christ.

We give honor & live humbly.

We outdo one another in showing honor. We do this publicly with words and actions of affirmation and celebration, and privately by holding each other in high esteem. We don’t gossip or slander. We walk in humility, considering others more important than ourselves, and are eager to serve. We respect and value each other, acknowledging and appreciating the gifts and contributions of every co-laborer.

We don’t have to, we get to.

We joyfully join God in His invitation to participate in His story. This is joyful servanthood as we steward the gifts God has given us for the sake of the gospel. Our work is not a burden we wish to offload, but is an outflow of our passion, executed with a positive attitude and grateful heart for the opportunity to do this work at this place with these people.

We surprise & delight.

We surprise and delight because the gospel is surprising and delighting. We put people first always. We are generous, we show hospitality, we demonstrate care, and we have fun. We put intentional effort toward this endeavor for the sake of loving people well.

We are kind in all circumstances.

When we disagree, when we’re offended, when it’s inconvenient, when it costs us, when having hard conversations, when treated poorly, when we’re right and they’re wrong, when we’re over extended, when tensions are high, when we have every excuse not to be kind - we’re kind.

We choose to trust.

Trust is earned, but we choose to trust even before it’s earned because we ultimately trust Jesus to hold all things together despite how we may fail each other. When trust is broken, we forgive and do the hard work to restore trust. We give the benefit of the doubt and seek to understand rather than make assumptions. We believe in each other and our ability to perform the role we’ve been entrusted with.

We aspire to excellence.

We aspire to excellence because our God is worthy and because excellent effort demonstrates His extravagant care for people. We plan and prepare intentionally, and we are eager to receive feedback and to contribute toward improvement. We work with clarity of our mission to measure our efforts and are candid in our evaluations. Though we are committed to caring through excellence, our identity is not found in what we produce, but rather in the God we serve.

We work hard, play hard & rest well.

We want to make the most of the time we have, recognizing that our work is to honor God as an act of worship. When we work, we work hard. We are also intentional to plan for times to play where we can enjoy one another and celebrate wins. We prioritize rest, taking sabbath and vacations seriously, recognizing God’s authority and our limitations. We work hard to help share the load when it’s time for others to rest.

We embrace second decisions.

We embrace and even celebrate second decisions, recognizing that we’ll learn from our mistakes and discover better ideas through failure. We take risks, we aren’t afraid to try and we aren’t afraid of feedback. We are eager to learn, seeking out development opportunities both personally and professionally.

We before me.

We do this together. We operate in community and collaborate because we need each other. We unite together in Christ under the vision and mission of this local church. We contribute to the big picture as individuals and teams, working together to display the beauty of the gospel. We align with one another under these shared values working toward shared goals.

LEADERSHIP

Lead Pastor - Renaut van der Riet

Renaut served in ministry from 1994 to 2002, pastoring middle school, high school, and college-age students. In 2002, he and his family moved to the Orlando area to plant a church. They didn’t know much about church planting, but they knew they wanted to plant one where any person, regardless of their current spiritual journey, could have an authentic experience with God through the gospel. So they started meeting people at the swimming pool in their neighborhood and at other local spots in the community. As they got to know people’s stories, they would share their own with them and the vision they had for this new church, and out of that grew the core that became Mosaic.

Renaut and his wife Brooke have been married for 25 years and have 8 children, 4 of whom were adopted from Ethiopia. Renaut has been involved in leadership within the Acts29 network, and has a specific heart for ministering to church planters, ministry leaders, and people involved in adoption and foster care.

Pastor of Ministry Strategy & Development - Joel Coffman

Joel has been on staff at Mosaic since 2009, where he initially served as the Student Pastor. Joel has served in a couple roles in his tenure at Mosaic, but is now the Executive Pastor of Ministries. He provides oversight and coaching to the leaders of various ministries at Mosaic, and has a huge heart to see his team thrive in their areas of gifting and responsibility.

Joel and his wife, Lauren, have two kids - Haddon (3), and Piper (1). If the kids' names don't make you think of a couple legendary preachers, you're missing out on some good gospel truth.

CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITY

GAINING MOMENTUM

The Kids Ministry has turned a huge corner over the last year under the direction of the Interim Kids Director, though she is very excited to hand over the reigns to a new leader and return to her primary role in Guest Services. Two new Coordinators are getting acclimated and hitting the ground running. A new leader will be able to rally this team and charge ahead into the future.

BEST DAYS AHEAD

Mosaic went through a tough season during the pandemic, but they've solidified their staff structure, philosophy of ministry, and of course worked through the pandemic. The Kids Ministry was one of the areas most affected by this season, but that means the staff and volunteer teams are incredibly excited to welcome a passionate leader and support them as they build into the future.

CREATIVE

The Kids Ministry Director will develop weekly programming that helps children have fun and delight in the Lord. He/she will interact with children, leaders, and parents in a way that is both winsome and spiritually mature, and will consistently evaluate the program and implement new ideas that are thoughtful and growth-oriented.

RESOURCES

Mosaic highly values Kids Ministry and the facilities reflect that. There are already terrific spaces for kids, and the campus still has room to grow. The new Kids Ministry Director will inherit excellent facilities, a generous ministry budget, and the ability to run with their vision for the kids and families of Mosaic.
