OUR STORY

Faith Christian Community (FCC) was the result of a successful church merger 20 years ago between a young and growing congregation that was out of space and an established church that had a declining congregation but large facility.

FCC is committed to serving their city and providing a place where people can encounter Jesus and experience gospel life change. This church has been known for a long time as a place with great worship, strong Bible teaching, and a heart for the lost. They believe in partnering with and supporting other churches in the mission of impacting as many people for Jesus as they possibly can and have developed strong relationships with several other local churches to accomplish just that. To this end, FCC is in a strong position to continue growing their Kingdom impact and extending their reach by the grace of God.

More recently, FCC built a fantastic community center outfit with meeting space, recreation facilities, and a enormous gymnasium with 2 full sized basketball courts, volleyball courts and a stage with full AVL systems which opened on April 1, 2017. In addition to serving the local community, this outstanding facility also hosts FCC's second campus which launched on Easter 2019.

FCC is a church for all people. This gospel-centered church is committed to leading people towards a life focused on the finished work of Jesus, the hope of the Gospel as declared in God's Word, and the way this truth transforms us into becoming fully devoted disciples of Jesus. The goal at FFC is to create environments and experiences where people can encounter God in the midst of their life. When attending FCC on a weekend, one will be inspired by the genuine worship, encouraged by the message, welcomed by the amazing community of people & be reminded that God’s grace is present and available to all! The environment is casual and they simply want people to come as they are.

Today, FCC continues in faith as God uses this church to make Jesus known to a diverse and intergenerational community. FCC is passionate about pursuing Christ and reaching outside their walls to love like Jesus did throughout greater Anchorage. Pastor Joe Robideaux, is remarkably aware of current trends in growing modern churches and continues to be a student of culture. More importantly, he knows the community in which he leads and understands the unique needs of those he shepherds. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Joe is committed to aiming FCC towards their mission and continued impact for years to come. He is a Christ-centered and believeable leader who loves lost people and is focused on the Kingdom work God has called FCC to lay hold of.

LEADERSHIP

Joe Robideaux serves as the Lead Pastor of FCC. He is a passionate communicator with eighteen years of pastoral leadership experience. Being deeply committed to proclaiming the Gospel and being an ambassador of Christ, Joe is driven to equip the church and to champion the hope of Jesus in people's everyday lives. Throughout his time being mentored and led by other leaders, Joe has a heart for intentional, compassionate, and collaborative leadership that seeks to maximize potential in others and in the church as a whole. He strives to further his own leadership growth and is energized by partnering with leaders who want do the same.

Joe is also blessed to have an incredible ministry partner in Pastor of Operations, Steve Carlisle. Steve serves as a wingman to Joe in areas of strategic leadership for the staff, assisting them towards ministry budgeting, goals, objectives and strategy. Steve is strong leader who has lived in Anchorage for many years. He not only brings excellent insight to ministry and business strategy, but has a huge heart for the Lord and lost people.

As modeled by scripture, Faith Christian Community church is led by a plurality of leaders known as elders, that are comprised of members selected from the church body, and up to three staff elders, called pastors, that make up the staff leadership team (SLT). This plurality of elders provides a healthy checks-and-balances of leadership direction, financial accountability, spiritual guidance, and ministry implementation.

Faith Christian Community elders provide spiritual oversight, vision, direction, and leadership of the church and its mission, entrusting the implementation of that mission to staff leadership, including deacons and deaconesses, who are supported by ministry staff. Staff leadership is accountable for following the elder’s vision and direction, and executing the mission. This system of organizational leadership, known as Polity Governance, allows the elders to focus on their biblical mandate to lead and shepherd the church, while allowing staff leadership the opportunity to maximize the use of their gifts and talents as they lead their respective ministries in accordance with the vision and mission provided by the elders.

The elders:

  • Ensure the overall vision and mission of the church reflects the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20
  • Approve policies defining church values and biblical operating procedures
  • Ensure the church’s teachings and practices reflect accurate biblical theology
  • Assure avenues for pastoral care, conflict resolution, discipline, and restoration
  • Provide direction and approval on financial or risk-management issues
  • Assure continuity and alignment between the church, The Center, and the Faith Daycare & Learning Center
  • Provide staff elder (pastor) oversight, to ensure the values are adhered to, vision is being followed, and mission is being carried out

It's important to know that FCC holds an egalitarian view of women in leadership and fully empowers them to serve and pastor the people of FCC and the community towards the mission God has called them to.

Simply put this is a healthy staff and ministry team! The next leader will be thrilled to serve within such a life-giving culture and relational pastor to experience growth, impact and influence for years to come.

WORSHIP MINISTRY CULTURE

FCC’s worship style is reminiscent of Vertical Worship, Bethel, Elevation, Passion and Hillsong but they strive to lead with awareness of their immediate culture and those in their community. They also love mixing things up with reimagined hymns and occasional throw backs...but the bread and butter sound leans heavily into the style of the above bands.

It is the goal of the worship ministry to lead towards high participation and genuine expression as they facilitate an environment where people can respond to the goodness, faithfulness, grace, love and presence of God. FCC believes in bringing energy and expression into everything they do which gives the people a place where they can feel comfortable to clap, raise their hands, sing loud and generally respond in a way that feels honest and genuine. They aim for the songs they sing to be theologically truthful, spiritually formational, singable, and creative as they engage people in Christ-centered worship. It is absolutely vital that the worship pastor be able to connect with and capture the congregation, leading them in active participation.  Their passion for Jesus, the people, and the team must be genuine and contagious!

FCC’s band setup is mostly standard: guitars, keys, bass, and drums with vocalists that lead worship and engage the congregation.  Currently, FCC offers 2 weekend gatherings on Sunday morning at their main campus.  They also built an outstanding community center in Anchorage, called the Artic Rec Center, which was constructed with a huge double gymnasium, class rooms, commerical kitchen and plenty of space for worship gatherings. The ARC is an incredible gift to the community of Anchorage and a tremendous tool for FCC in engaging the city. Worship gatherings at this location have ceased during the COVID pandemic but plan to resume in the near future.

The technical team at FCC does a great job of adapting technology in a tasteful and distraction free way with LED lighting, good PA, and video projection. They are nicely outfitted with a digital audio console, in ear monitoring, ProPresenter, and a digital lighting desk. The audio experience during Sunday gatherings is quite good and run at a level that encourages participation and engagement. The tech team is led by an experieinced contract technician who will serve under the leadership of the Worship Pastor.

The worship and technical teams at FCC are made up of committed servant leaders who humbly serve each week.  They deeply care about what they have the privilege of doing to serve the people of FCC and want to grow in their skill and connection with one another. This is an area where the new leader will be able to greatly influence the culture of FCC by creating pathways for numerical growth and connection musically, technically and spiritually. This team is hungry for it!

FCC is a groups based church where people gather to encourage one another, grow in Christ together, and to challenge and support one another. FCC believes that Connect Groups are a key way to build Biblical community. Connect Groups are available for students, women, men and couples which meet throughout the year both at the church, in the community and online.

FCC is a church on mission. FCC pursues this mission every day in their city, across cultures, and around the globe through their outreach ministry and partners. They have a number of local and global partners they support to not only meet practical needs, but to share the good news of Jesus.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The culture of the worship ministry team is moderately healthy but needs a life-giving, invested, spiritual and creative leader who will build, train, develop and disciple musicians and technicians.  The right leader will lead from a place of joy, declaration and faith calling people to engage in Biblically sound, Jesus-centered, and participative worship. FCC regularly talks about their "3 buckets of ministry". These include the weekend experience, family ministry, and small groups. However, there is an expectation that all 3 of these "buckets" or ministry areas will be pointing people towards outreach in our city. They want to serve the city well and then invite people to know the love of Jesus. The Worship Pastor will be a key contributor to this ministry philosophy and ethos.

This new leader will bring oversight, management, and visionary leadership to the FCC Worship Ministry.  They will serve as the primary worship leader for weekend gatherings and events while also raising up a team around them, having a desire to give leadership away.  Their presence on stage and ability to engage the congregation in dynamic, joy-filled, Christ-exalting, Spirit-led worship with excellence will be a key component. Their leadership will influence the culture at Faith which includes all aspects of worship, creative and technical ministry.  They will work towards the growth and expansion of worship, creative and technical ministry opportunities as well as creative planning for all FCC worship gatherings and big events as called upon.

Faith Christian Community desires a leader who is passionate about team building and possesses a communication style that speaks life into people, bringing out the best in them. This team needs to be deepened and strengthen both in number and in community.  The right leader will be one who leads with a shepherd’s heart.  This person will possess strong instrumental and vocal skills as well as a heart for God and active walk with Jesus. This Worship Pastor will lead with a sensitivity to the Spirit of God and awareness for “God moments” and how to lead the congregation towards the heart of Jesus in worship. The Worship Ministry will always be a high priority within the culture of FCC.

This person will be a ministry partner for Pastor Joe, collaborating and connecting with his style, vision, creativity, philosophy of ministry, and desire to engage believers and reach the lost. This is an amazing place to grow, lead, stretch and experience synergy with a healthy team and also be a part of seeing a culturally and ethnically diverse and intergenerational community reached for Christ while expanding in future multi-site options at the ARC and other locations throughout Alaska.

With a focused vision at FCC to "empower champions of hope" the right leader will be a carrier of that hope. If each person at FCC see it as their role and responsibility to live out the calling of the Gospel, there's no telling what God might do in Anchorage and beyond. This church believes it is their responsibility to first show people why they should WANT to be a champion of hope, and then equip them to use their gifts for Kingdom purposes.

LOCATION

Alaska is truly one of the most spectacular places on the planet. It is an outdoorsman's paradise, full of wonder, beauty and adventure. Anchorage is best known for trails, wildlife, and glaciers, and it is the state’s cultural soul as well. The city is home to more artists and musicians than any other place in Alaska. Urban and wild aren’t opposites; they are Anchorage’s two defining elements. There’s no need to choose one or the other since they are both part of life here. Anchorage lives under midnight sun and auroras. Shares the backyard with moose. Fishes in urban salmon streams at lunch. Cheers runners and reindeer on the main street.

Known for it's spectacular summers where temperatures are perfect, days are long and the light never really goes away....to the winters where the skiing, snowmobiling, and the Northern lights captivate one's attention, Anchorage is a playground for the adventurous spirit. Fishing, hunting, hiking, cycling, boating, camping and exploring are at your fingertips. The seafood and culinary offerings are some of the best in the world and the appreciation for art runs deep.

This unique culture is a wonderful place to raise a family. Housing averages around the $225-350K range. There is a deep pride of being "Alaskan" in this culturally and ethnically diverse city which attracts transplants from all over the US.
