HISTORY & CURRENT STATUS

360 Church is impacting tens of thousands of lives in Sarasota and around the world by pressing beyond ordinary relationships to reach extraordinary Kingdom results. 360 Church was planted in June 2006 with Steve McCoy as the founding pastor, his wife, Carrie, and 6 other people.

From the outset, 360 Church was committed to establishing ministry culture which included the footprints of:

1. One-to-one disciple-making would be at the core of their DNA.

2. Simplicity would be a key tactic in shaping their culture.

3. The clarity of the strategy would be critical.

The passion to plant the church was born from the resolve to centralize the one-to-one dynamic typically missing in the church culture. This one-to-one relational component is so desperately critical to spiritual growth and relational depth. They launched the church in a living room with the dream of a ministry that is balanced in the three relational dynamics of Jesus:

Big Circle (crowd), Mid Circle (group), and Small Circle (one-to-one).

These three relational circles define the name, 360, having three circles (360 degrees) of relational influence.

Instead of leaving this Small Circle dynamic to chance, the one-to-one approach was integrated into the operating system from day one. The Lead Pastor, Steve McCoy, took 6 years to write a one-to-one discipleship track called Xchange. The intention of this tool was to create great intentionality in bringing two people together for a comprehensive discipleship experience. As the years progressed, the one-to-one dynamic was integrated into many layers of life at 360. The goal was to create a culture of Small Circle relationships.

360 Church is a debt-free ministry and currently averages 600-weekend attendees, with a ministry budget of $1,300,000. They have seen the fruit of a global ministry impact. They created and published a discipleship pathway and process that is now being used in churches in every state in the US and in over 70 countries. The heart of 360 Church is impact lives in Sarasota and around the world. The mandate of 360 Church is to press beyond ordinary relationships to reach extraordinary results.

LEADERSHIP

Steve McCoy has lived in Sarasota since 2001. Steve's leadership style is transparent, relational, and pragmatic. He delivers depth in the weekend teaching but comes across in a communication style that is accessible to anyone at any point on their spiritual journey. Ultimately Steve is about taking action to see the Kingdom of God advance in any door which opens by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Eric Williams joined the staff in 2018 as the Executive Pastor. After serving in Tennessee, Eric returned to his ministry roots in Southwest Florida. As 360 hits a strategic stage of development, Eric is helping to provide the framework and lead the staff to the next season of growth to reach and disciple more people for Christ.

The 360 Church is operationally driven by the staff, spiritually shepherded with the elders, and financially protected by the financial board. This approach has been hugely successful because it allows them to exercise the gifts specifically given to different individuals without expecting them to possess every strength.

CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITY

The position of Discipleship Pastor is an executive leadership position that is designed to impact the local church. In turn, this impact outflows to the work that is already taking place in churches throughout the United States and around the world.

Crystalline Gulf waters, quartz sand, a vibrant and active young community, arts, culture, and entertainment all exist here. Sarasota has something for everyone, and it is no surprise considering Sarasota continually gets ranked as one of the highest quality of life places you can live. Add that to Siesta Key beach being ranked as one of the top beaches in the world and the recent feature article in Vogue magazine and you do not have to take my word for it. Sarasota offers a laid-back coastal vibe and is a small city that is growing. In many ways it is the best of both worlds with plenty of nature and peace, but also an engaging city life and scene are available. Sarasota is a destination for sports and sportsmen alike with world-class golf, tennis, rowing, and fishing all available. Perhaps what makes Sarasota the best place to consider living is the people.
